Old legends situate the original seat of the Czech princess - the legendary Princess Libuse over here. Between nowadays noteworthy sights are the precious romanesque rotunda of St. Martin, the gothic church of St. Peter and Paul (in the late 19th century rebuilt in the neo-gothic style), the Vysehrad cemetery used as a burial site of the Czech outstanding personalities since 1869 with a collective tomb called Slavin and the underground casemates housing the originals of several baroque statues from the Charles Bridge.
This beautiful quiet part of Prague has a very mystical atmosphere and many legends are also connected with this amazing place.
